No matter how much Hollywood changes the one thing that stays the same is the effort that goes into Christmas movie posters. You can put a summer movie poster up next to a Christmas movie poster and you will instantly see a difference in not only the production but also the detail. It is a sign of the times because movie posters today are not nearly as important to the marketing of a movie as they used to be. It used to be that a movie poster had to be one of the main things that sold a movie to the movie going public. Back before television marketing and before we have action figures from movies in the stores before the movie even came out, we had elaborate movie posters that usually had several different scenes from the movie displayed on it for the movie going public to see. In the case of the B-movie the poster was done before the movie was and the poster was everything in the sale of the B-movie. Today all of that has changed.

When White Christmas came out in 1954 television was just starting to become popular but it was still something only the most well off families had so they needed the White Christmas movie poster to get people into the theater. Since White Christmas it just seems like movie posters for Christmas movies have been given special attention over standard movie posters. Nothing gives a better example of the modern day Christmas movie poster than the poster for the Christmas classic A Christmas Story. A Christmas Story was released in 1983 and in a short time it has become a staple of the Christmas season for millions of people. The Christmas Story movie poster is absolutely a throwback kind of poster back to the days when posters were important because a part of almost every major scene in the movie is on that poster. In A Christmas Story nearly every scene is classic comedy and there are a lot of things that movie is remembered for. The poster has the major award leg lamp, the bunny pajamas, and even the old man in his sweater and it is all done in one central image just like the old posters used to do it. A lot of things may have changed in Hollywood over the years but the Christmas season still remains one of the big times for movie ticket sales and as long as the Christmas season remains important to Hollywood then they will continue to put a lot of effort into their Christmas movie posters.
